Delete Your Account and Data
Last updated: 24 September 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your Curiously account and the
data associated with it. Curiously is operated by Ferbotz.
Have a Premium subscription? Cancel it first. Deleting your Curiously account
does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play or the App Store, and the
store will keep charging you until you cancel it there:
- Android: open the Google Play Store app → tap your profile icon →
Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions →
Curiously → Cancel subscription.
- iPhone or iPad: open Settings → tap your name →
Subscriptions → Curiously →
Cancel Subscription.
Refunds are handled by the app store under its own refund policy.
How to request deletion
If you signed in with Google
- Email us at support@ferbotz.com
from the email address you used to sign in to Curiously.
- Use the subject line "Delete my account" and tell us you want your
Curiously account and data deleted.
- We may reply to check that the account is yours, so nobody else can delete it for you.
Once it is verified we delete your account within
30 days and email you when it is done.
If you use Curiously without signing in (anonymously)
- Anonymous use is not linked to your name or email. You can delete individual conversations
in the app at any time: in History, press and hold a conversation, tap
Delete and confirm.
- To have us delete the anonymous data held on our servers, open the app, go to
Me → Help & legal → Contact
support, and tell us you want it deleted. The email that opens includes this
device's ID, which is the only way we can find data that isn't linked to an account.
- Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, removes that ID and
with it the link between this device and its saved progress - so if you want the data
deleted, send the email first.
What data is deleted
When we delete your account, we remove the personal data associated with it, including:
- Your profile information - name, email address, Google account ID, and the link to your
profile photo.
- Your questions and answers, and any photos or voice recordings you attached to them.
- Your learning progress - the concepts you read, your quiz answers and scores, your reading
streak, and the age range you selected.
- The subscription status we hold for your account.
What may be kept, and for how long
- Backups - deleted data may remain in backup copies for up to
90 days after deletion, and is then gone for good. We
never use backups to restore a deleted account.
- The device's free-trial counter - how many questions were asked on a device
and when its free trial started. It belongs to the device rather than to the account and
holds no name or email; we keep it, with no set end date, so that deleting and re-creating
an account can't restart the free trial. If you want it removed as well, say so in your
email and we will delete it (the free trial on that device then starts again).
- Purchase and subscription records held by others. Payments are handled by
the app store (Google Play / Apple) and our payments partner (RevenueCat); the records they
hold are governed by their own policies.
- Server logs - technical records of requests (such as IP addresses), kept
only as long as needed to operate and secure the Service. They do not contain your
questions.
- Records we must keep by law. We may retain limited information where
required for legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, and only for as long as the
law requires.
- Anonymised data. Aggregated or de-identified data that can no longer be
linked to you may be retained.
